Scott Amyx Speaks at MIT

Astor Perkins spoke at the MIT New Space Age Conference on April 29th at the MIT Media Lab along with Kevin O’Connell, former Director of the Office of Space Commerce at the U.S. Department of Commerce and MIT Media Lab Space Affiliated Researcher, and Blair DeWitt, CEO of Lunar Station Corp on why the Moon is big business.

Going to the Moon isn’t simply a science project. There are potentially trillions of dollars at stake. Strategically, the Moon has something essential for survival in space: water.

The estimated value of mining Lunar water is $206B over the next 30 years.

Water is essential for supporting deep space economic and development activities — satellite refueling, International Space Station, Gateway Space Station/ Lunar Gateway, Artemis Base Camp on the surface, Mars Space Station, space agriculture, tourism, and hotels.

The Moon has substantial natural resources which could be exploited in the future. Lunar resources include metals such as iron, titanium, aluminum, silicon, calcium, magnesium, and rare-earth elements for building critical, life-supporting infrastructure, components, and systems.
